Save time clearing goods arriving in Brazil by carrying out a thorough pre-departure customs clearing analysis at origin.
Case study: signed, stamped and delivered
Our client urgently requested us to collect his cargo at the supplier’s facility and transport it directly onto the first flight out to Rio. One of our operators noticed that the wooden pallet that the supplier used to pack the goods lacked the required stamp. This would cause major delays at destination, as customs would have to put this cargo on hold and would have ordered this shipment to be returned to its origin.
We informed the client about the problem, advising him that we needed to remedy the situation before shipping the cargo. He headed our advice, we brought the cargo to our airfreight facility and repacked it on a plastic pallet that does not need any material certification stamp. We booked the cargo on the following day’s flight.
The cargo arrived in Rio with a slight delay. However, thanks to the thorough preparation, the goods were cleared quickly and we were able to deliver to the customer in time.
Case study: restarting the rig
An oil rig in Brazil was in downtime, due to the malfunction of a vital part. The cost of this interruption was a staggering $150,000 per day. Our customer, the European supplier of the replacement part, asked for our help to get the part to Brazil without delay.
One of our team members left immediately to collect the cargo personally at the supplier’s location in Norway. The part was hand-carried to Amsterdam by plane. During the flight to Amsterdam, the cargo was inspected and photographed, to prepare for customs procedures in Brazil. Our Amsterdam team prepared all the export documentation and airway bills (AWBs).
At the same time, our team in Brazil prepared the import declaration. The part was delivered personally to the cargo gate in Amsterdam. On arrival in Rio, one of our people was at the gate to collect the part.
After a speedy release of the goods, the cargo was airlifted by helicopter to the rig. This impressive, coordinated team effort, meant we were able to deliver the part within 24 hours after the malfunction notification.
